The World of Tikulu
With 18 titles and more than 300,000 copies sold, the Tikulu collection is a Mauritian publishing phenomenon.
The fruit of an encounter between the artist Henry Koombes and the publisher Pascale Siew, the little dreadlocked hero, Tikulu, has been attracting loyal fans since 1998. Rendered in vivid, tropical colours with short, simple texts, the world of Tikulu encompasses the islands of the Indian Ocean, and is united by the values of friendship, solidarity and respect for the environment. In Tikulu’s world, there are no differences or barriers between people. It is a world without prejudices, where people enjoy meeting each other and living in harmony.
The collection is characterised by the distinctive ‘Koombes style’ : simple, fresh and joyful images with bold outlines, reminiscent of Hergé’s Tintin albums.
